Ladies who need support to stay motivated.
Who of you out there is like me, wanting and wishing so much to reach fitness and nutrition goals, but due to a lack of motivation
(and willpower, too) cannot seem to reach their goals? I really need your ideas and input. I feel stuck in a rut and I know I'm not the only one who feels like this. Thanks for all your input! - 5 Replies

Getting Motivated
The key for me is to get motivated in the first place. I watch "The Biggest Loser" t.v. show and that is so motivating
,because if these people can do it,so can I. You see them on those treadmills etc just looking like they want to stop, but they don't. They just push themselves . They also are helped in trying to figure WHY they over-eat. Like, one lady lost her whole family in a car crash and turned to food. I'm also an emotional eater, but now I keep a journal of what I eat and how I'm feeling at the time. Plus I have a work-out log and if I don't write something in it,I feel bad,so I go excercise. Hope some of my suggestion s helped. Want to be friends on here?-Mich elle Edited by michalay, 1 week ago

Re: Ladies who need support to stay motivated.
I too need motivationonce in a while, I used to go to the gym on a daily basis, but i ended up getting sick for about 2 weeks and that was about 3 months ago and i have been going to the gym once in a while, but i am having a hard time getting back to my daily routine of going to the gym. I have a great gym at Wayne State University and i will even pack up a bag to go workout in between classes and then i get there and I do not feel like working out. But, when i do go to the gym i feel great, the problem i have is getting there, once im there i have a great workout. I am standing up in a wedding in Oct of 2010 and i really want to shed some pounds! One thing i have been good at lately is keeping a journal of what I eat. If i go to reach for salty snacks or sweets I know that i do not want to write it down, so i have been reaching for an apple or a pear instead. That is one way to stay motivated on healthy eating. -

Keep your goal in mind (literally
) One thing I have found to keep me motivated is keeping a visual reminder of why I'm trying to improve myself. I take a picture of me at my heaviest in my workout journal that I take to the gym with me. I keep a picture of me at my fitest on the fridge at home. At work I keep a picture of my nephew on my desk. He is about to turn two and very active so it reminds me that I want to be able to keep up with him and have kids of my own some day.
If I have a special event coming up I will buy a nice dress, bathing suit, or top that is a little too small for me and will hang it in by bedroom where I see it every morning. I try that piece on every so often to see if I've made progress to being able to wear it. Little reminders throughout
your day can really keep you motivated. -

Re: Ladies who need support to stay motivated.
I agree I have lost my motivation. I was in a car accident about 4 months ago and broke my toe, and was unable to workout for a good 2 months, now that i have been able to workout to full capacity I just havent had the motiation to do it. I was also laid off from my job a little over 2 months ago, so I now have the time to do it. It is frustrating because i was hoping to be in great shape by now or atleast on my way, since the accident i gained over 10 pounds. I think because I no longer have much structure in my days I am finding it harder to get my butt off the couch and do something. I think that recording what I eat will be helpful and I was just wondering if anyone has any good ideas on getting more structure into my days to make sure I really get my workouts in? I am interviewing for a job tomorrow-- hopefully I get it, and that helps build some more regularity back in my day, any other suggestions would be great. I am single and live alone so I cant really count on anyone but myself for motivation.
